Graduate Counseling - Financial Aid
Financial Aid is available to U.S. citizens and eligible non-citizens in the form of Federal Stafford Loans, scholarships, and assistantships. Eligible students may file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to receive government sponsored educational loans and grants.
Available Scholarships
Academic
Applicants planning to enroll as full-time students (9-12 credit hours) to the Graduate Counseling Program may qualify for $1,000 each semester. Two new awards will be made yearly. This is a competitive scholarship requiring an undergraduate GPA of at least 3/50 on a 4/00 scale. Decisions will be based on evidence of academic scholarship, a written statement of professional goals, evidence of research experience, a written statement of faith, and written recommendations. Graduate Record Exam quantitative and verbal scores will also be considered. A renewal application must be submitted each year in April. Continued eligibility is possible by maintaining a 3.50 GPA, remaining at a full-time student status, and continuing as a student in good standing throughout their graduate program.
Servant Leadership
Applicants planning to enroll as full-time students (9-12 credit hours) to the Graduate Counseling Program may qualify for $1,000 each semester. Two new awards will be made yearly. This is a competitive scholarship requiring an undergraduate GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.00 scale. Applicants should be able to show evidence of exceptional skills and a passion for the field of counseling. Decisions will be based on evidence of experience in the field of counseling, a written statement of professional goals, a written statement of faith, and written recommendations. A renewal application must be submitted each year in April. Continued eligibility is possible by maintaining a 3.25 GPA, remaining at a full-time student status, and continuing as a student in good standing throughout their graduate program.
IWU-Graduate Counseling
An undergraduate student from Indiana Wesleyan University who has been accepted as a full time student (9-12 credit hours) and begins coursework within one year after graduation from IWU will qualify for $1,000 each year ($500 per semester). This is a renewable scholarship requiring the applicants to maintain a 3.25 GPA, remain a full-time student and to continue as a student in good standing throughout their Graduate Counseling program. A renewal application must be submitted each year in April.
Clinic Assistantship
Applicants planning to enroll as full-time students (9-12 credit hours) to the Graduate Counseling Program may qualify for a one-half tuition grant to be awarded to one student per year. The assistantship requires 15 hours per week to be served in the Graduate Counseling Clinic as well as to maintain a graduate GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.00 scale. This is a competitive scholarship requiring the applicant to have an undergraduate GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.00 scale and to demonstrate financial need. Decisions will be based on computer and clerical skills, people skills, and an ability to handle multiple tasks. Applicant must also submit a written statement of faith and written recommendations.
Research Assistantship
The research assistantship is available to second year students only.
