Graduate Counseling - School Counseling

IWU’s School Counseling Program trains counselors to be servant leaders in the school setting; for students from Pre-Kindergarten through High School, their families, staff, and community. Candidates learn to help students succeed in their schools and in their lives.

Statistics involving crises of children are alarming: Abuse, neglect, divorce, poverty, unemployment, substance abuse, teen pregnancy, eating disorders, and other issues surround our youth, causing interference in their stability. Their lives and their futures will be more promising with concern, encouragement, and direction offered by caring professional school counselors who are trained in our program.

The School Counseling program is a 48-hour program which is accredited by the Council for accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). Following successful completion of our program, candidates may apply for their license through the Indiana Department of Education. Individual courses may be taken for those “testing the waters” of school counseling. Integration of Christian principles links counseling know-how to Christ-like connections.
